Luna's HONU Soprano Ukulele takes its design from traditional hawaiian body ornamentation. The designs were monochromatic, tattooed in black against brown skin. The patterns and layout were strongly geometric and there were many shapes and symbols which represented the natural island world:stones, waves, fish, sharks, turtles, rain, sun, birds. This design is based on a Hawaiian turtle (honu), a symbol of longevity and endurance rendered in a Polynesian tattoo style. The fret markers are stylized sharks teeth.
Plug this beauty and discover a dark presence unexpected of its bright aesthetics. A rich, dark and smooth tone fitting of an incredible jazz guitar worms it's way from the speakers. But don't think of this axe as a one trick pony, oh no. It makes for some fantastic blues tones as well. I could even see it's dark warm sound being used for gothic metal in the vein of Type O Negative or latter era Woods of Ypres.
